F/V Capt Ken, Pamlico Sound, NC

USCG Wilmington NC contacted NOAA this morning about the F/V Capt Ken, reported to have sunk at 0200 this morning in Pamilco Sound, North Carolina. She was reported to be carrying 1000gal of diesel fuel. There is currently no visible sheen. A slavage plan has not yet been developed. USCG requested a precautionary trajectory estimate from NOAA ERD in the event the vessel leaks before salvage operations are completed. The location was given as 35°6.21'N--76°22.53'W. That location is in the southern part of Pailco Sound, about 5 miles from the nearest land, to the south.
