Xylene Release, Offshore LA

On 03DEC, USCG MSU Morgan City contacted NOAA SSC about a xylene release. The product spilled was Xylene (mixtures). Approximately 32 barrels were discharged into the Gulf of Mexico this afternoon from an injection line leading into a subsea well. The well is approximately 3,440 feet subsurface, and 103 miles from shore. The wellhead is 7 miles southeast of the platform. USCG is requesting a model emphasizing environmental and wildlife impact.
